Ann’s Bilateral Shoulder Replacements Patient Story
By 70, I developed osteoarthritis in both shoulders and knees. Putting on a coat, fastening my seatbelt, reaching into my kitchen cabinets, and hanging clothes in my closet were excruciating every day. I had my non-dominant shoulder replaced first and it went exceedingly well. I recovered very quickly, with minimal pain. I had my dominant shoulder done a year later with a similar positive outcome. Both of my surgeries were reverse replacements.
Why did you choose Dr. Obermeyer?
I am a great Googler and researcher for the best physicians in the area. Dr. Obermeyer and Barrington Orthopedics came up in my research, along with a recommendation from a neighbor. I met with him and liked his openness to my questions, his professionalism, and his use of data in monitoring outcomes and recommendations.
Outcome
I couldn’t be happier with my two reverse shoulder replacements; I forget they’ve been done; they feel so normal. I’m almost 74 and I garden and feed the birds, and I have no trouble doing heavy yardwork like lifting 30-pound bags of birdseed and bags of mulch and potting soil. And even better, I can put on a seatbelt or a coat, hang clothes, and reach the very tippy top of my kitchen cabinets every day without a thought. Dr. Obermeyer has truly made a difference in my day-to-day life, and I could not have hoped for a better outcome.
