Complete Care

A destination for your shoulder and knee care

You should consider choosing an orthopedic healthcare provider who can streamline your treatment, ensure you are highly satisfied with your experience, ease tension with attending appointments, and provide a single site of service for the multiple aspects of your care.  This is offered by Dr. Thomas Obermeyer, among the best and most widely respected shoulder and knee specialists in the Chicago and Illinois regions.

Dr. Obermeyer is available throughout the week to accommodate scheduling preferences. He evaluates patients in Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, and Bartlett.  We respect your time when coming in for an evaluation and attempt to limit your wait and pride ourselves in friendly and accommodating office staff.  You can simplify the check-in and waiting process by making your prior records and history of treatment available before the appointment. Dr. Obermeyer offers on-site MRI with high quality, accredited and efficient MRI scanners at the Schaumburg and Bartlett locations.  The on-site MRI experience is quite easy; obtaining an MRI when needed can be performed just steps from where your office appointment is located.   We work closely with most insurance companies to facilitate insurance authorization and keep the MRI experience as comfortable as possible with experienced technicians.  Dr. Obermeyer uses a picture archiving and communication (PACS) system that he controls and accesses so you don’t need to lift a finger after the scan is completed.  The scans are read and interpreted not only by Dr. Obermeyer but by qualified and board-certified radiologists who provide image interpretation to provide further information and confirmation on your diagnosis.

Physical therapy is an important component to treatment for many conditions affecting the shoulder and knee, whether you are having surgery or not. Dr. Obermeyer works closely with on-site qualified and highly trained physical therapists which provide individualized treatment for your condition. Dr. Obermeyer’s team of physical and occupational therapists at the Schaumburg, Elk Grove, and Bartlett locations have state-of-the-art equipment and machines to ensure you have access to the best form of physiotherapy available.

Dr. Obermeyer performs many types of procedures including replacements, arthroscopies, ligament repairs, and fracture surgery at the Schaumburg Surgery Center, just upstairs at the same Schaumburg facility.   This ambulatory surgical center is an industry leading facility with expert anesthesiologists, nurses, and technicians to ensure you have a team of healthcare professionals who provide the highest quality orthopedic treatment available.  The Schaumburg Surgery Center is effectively a specialty center, performing high volumes of orthopedic procedures safely and efficiently in a patient-centric and highly rated experience.  All care providers work closely and regularly with Dr. Obermeyer, so there is a level of familiarity and comfort with a team that performs surgeries like yours routinely.  This contrasts with a hospital setting where there is less predictability, less efficiency, and a team that is sometimes not as directly accountable to ensuring a favorable experience as a specialty surgery center.

Physical rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery is a crucial aspect of the recovery process, tailored to help patients regain mobility, strength, and function in the affected area. Dr. Thomas Obermeyer emphasizes the importance of a personalized rehabilitation plan, which typically includes a combination of physical therapy, exercises, and gradual activity progression. This approach aims to reduce pain, prevent complications, and improve overall outcomes, enabling patients to return to their daily activities and athletic pursuits safely and effectively. By focusing on restoring optimal joint and muscle function, rehabilitation plays a vital role in achieving long-term success after orthopedic procedures.

Non-surgical conservative treatments, such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections and corticosteroid injections, offer effective options for managing joint pain without the need for surgery. Dr. Thomas Obermeyer utilizes PRP injections to harness the body’s natural healing processes by using concentrated platelets to promote tissue repair and reduce inflammation in the affected joint. Corticosteroid injections, on the other hand, provide rapid relief by decreasing inflammation and pain, offering a temporary but often significant improvement in joint function. These treatments are carefully selected based on the patient’s specific condition and goals, serving as valuable tools in managing joint pain and enhancing the quality of life for individuals seeking non-surgical options.

If you are looking for a convenient, high quality, and integrated destination for your orthopedic shoulder and knee surgery needs, look no further than Dr. Obermeyer and the complete care network he oversees.  He will guide you through your healthcare experience, provide explanations for each step in the process, set expectations for treatment goals, and ensure that only needed services are rendered in a simple and cost-effective manner.  Dr. Obermeyer provides treatments for patients throughout Illinois, with emphasis on the surrounding Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Elgin, Streamwood, Arlington Heights, and Roselle communities.
